Description :
INTRODUCTION TO READING QURAN is the first in a series of Quran Classes which will be offered at Shaw University Mosque. There are no prerequisites for the course.
Any Muslim with prior experience with Arabic, or willing to be able to read Arabic text, especially Quran should contact the instructor for an informal placement exam. The course will be proficiency based, covering three of four language skills (listening, reading, and writing). We will place considerable emphasis on active use of the language both in class and in daily homework assignments. By the end of the semester, students can expect to know the Arabic alphabet, to be able to read simple texts using a limited range of vocabulary and structures, to read the Quran in Arabic.
Students will also develop an acquaintance with some aspects of Arab culture through the exploration of Arabic-language media and Arabic-related web sites.
The course will be taught by Brother Juma and 101 help offered by Dr. Ayesh. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you can contact Dr. Ayesh for help relating to homework, problems…. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can contact Br. Juma for similar problems. Because success in learning Arabic, as with any language, depends to a large extent on daily study and practice, it is important that you attend class regularly on every Sunday, complete homework, and ask for help in areas you have difficulties. In addition, both Br. Juma and Dr. Ayesh will provide their availabilities schedule on the days they are supposed to help for 101and to help you with any questions or concerns. These are hours which we have set aside for you and other students we teach, and we encourage you to make use of them. If these times are not convenient for you, you may contact us at any time by email or arrange to meet us at another time for an individual appointment. Goals:
By the end of 12 weeks, anyone fully participating should be able to open any where in the Quran and be able to read.
This class will increase brotherhood and sisterhood for those attending.
Help parents to learn so they can be able to educate their children.” No one will be a better teacher than a parent”
